Welcome to my site!
My name is David Schurger. I have been the Orchestra Director at Zionsville Community High School since the Spring of 2014. I live on the Eastside of Indianapolis with my beautiful bride Liz, who is also a music teacher, and our two mini fur babies Gus and Gretl. Along with teaching in Zionsville, I am also the Music Director, conductor, and a founding member of the Indiana University School of Medicine Orchestra and a board member for the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. I have had an article published in the American String Teachers Journal comparing the similarities between drumstick and bow operation. About 6 years ago I started a custom concrete company called Schurger Concrete Abstracts, purveyors of custom concrete creations. Even though I love the creative aspect of working with such a fun medium, my concrete work has taken a backseat because I need to go to the gym to stay sane after work. When not working out or teaching, I’d rather be reading research articles/books on cognitive psychology, making music, using life as giant experiment, drumming, sawing away on a viola, or (my favorite past time) spending time with Liz, Gus, and Gretl.
